One of a kind bridge over Koshi
The government is all set to construct a state-of-the-art bridge across the Koshi River at Chatara in Sunsari.
Asian Development Bank is going to donate Rs 1.5 billion under the Water-induced Disaster Rehabilitation Programme to construct the steel-truss bridge.
The construction site is 4 km north from Chatara and 3 km south from Barahachhetra.
The government has already initiated bidding process for the construction and established an office of Koshi Bridge Project in Dharan. Narayan Bhattarai has been deputed to head the project.
According to Bhattarai, the proposed bridge would be 269 meter long and 10 meter wide. The bridge was designed by a Canadian company called MMM Group. He said, “The construction of the bridge will begin from July this year and will be completed within December 2012. Foreign engineers and technicians will inspect the overall construction of the bridge,” said Bhattarai claiming the bridge to one of a kind in the country.
